January 2, 2025

(Beijing) On January 2, 2025, the first locally produced BMW M performance sedan - the all-new BMW M235L Gran Coupé officially launched, alongside the complete lineup of the all-new BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé. Production of the all-new BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé began today in Shenyang, and it is the first locally produced BMW Gran Coupé. This new addition injects BMW's unique sheer driving pleasure into the compact luxury Gran Coupé segment, and will bring a pleasant driving experience for more young users who pursue individuality and passion for life.

Every BMW model has to pass a rigorous "graduation exam" before it enters the market. The all-new BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé has experienced a dynamic road test spanning a year and about 600,000 kilometers in China, and has withstood quality tests in extreme temperatures, ranging from -40℃ to 40℃. As the youngest member of the M family, the all-new BMW M235L Gran Coupé has also undergone 20,000 kilometers of track testing. The rigorous testing and meticulous tuning of the M brand have enabled the new car, with the extended wheelbase, to achieve almost the same dynamic performance as the standard model, preserving the original M driving experience.

The all-new BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé comes standard with the latest generation of BMW 2.0T four-cylinder engine, with a maximum power of 150kW, can accelerate from 0 to 100 km in 7.3 seconds. With all the standard M package, it ensures the classic BMW driving pleasure. The all-new BMW M235L Gran Coupé further enhances the performance with M-specific design elements throughout, and is equipped with the "BMW's strongest 2.0T four-cylinder engine" tuned by BMW M, with a maximum output of 221kW (300 HP) and enables the car to reach 100 km/h in just 5 seconds.

The all-new BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé introduces a longer wheelbase for the first time, giving it rear legroom comparable to a mid-size car. With wide air intakes below, the all-new BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé present a swooping silhouette that exudes motion even when at rest. A streamlined roofline flows to the rear, complemented by more elongated and sporty side windows. The shoulder line runs through the side of the car, dynamic and fit, and the broad rear design imbues the elegant Gran Coupé with the power and presence that are hallmarks of the BMW brand.

Frameless doors are used for the first time on locally-produced BMW models. Engineers from BMW Plant Tiexi continuously refine and debug the frameless door process, resulting in 17 different combinations of glass and door limit positions for the new car. These have all been meticulously crafted to meet BMW's stringent rain test standards.  In addition, the vehicle has also carried out a comprehensive rain test, and strive to provide users with the highest quality products that are "watertight". At the same time, the durability tests have been conducted in a laboratory with temperatures ranging from -30℃ to 80℃ which ensures the elegant appearance and serenity of the new vehicle.

The new BMW M235L Gran Coupé introduces the striking Thunder Night paint for the first time, which is mysterious and passionate. More than 120 robots in the intelligent painting workshop of BMW Shenyang Plant Tiexi ensure the bright and durable color of the car’s finish. Once the painting process is complete, the AOI automatic vision inspection system can carry out 100% online inspection of the body paint. All BMW vehicles are coated with environmentally friendly waterborne paint. In addition, BMW Shenyang production base has realized 100% recycling of production water.

Inside the car, the integrated suspension curved screen is equipped with the OS9. Up to 70% of the content is localized for Chinese users allowing drivers to concentrate on the road while enhancing the car's convenience.  A selection of audio and video platforms provide an entertaining audio-visual experience for all passengers, making every journey more engaging. The all-new BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé also features BMW's latest intelligent driver assistance system.

The new car's rear seats have been specifically tailored for the Chinese market, featuring an extended and thickened overall seat cushion, along with an increased seat angle, all designed to enhance softness and comfort. The vehicle introduces an additional airbag on the right side of the driver's seat, which can avoid the collision between the driver and the front passenger in case of an accident. Each door is reinforced with two thermoformed anti-collision beams, reducing the risk of deformation, increasing safety, and safeguarding all occupants within the vehicle.

The all-new BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé has been sincerely crafted for Chinese users, aiming to be "the most enjoyable compact luxury Gran Coupé to drive," with a starting price of 259,900 yuan. The "youngest M," the all-new BMW M235L Gran Coupé, is priced at 363,900 yuan, bringing the exhilarating M driving pleasure within reach.
