(Beijing) On April 25, Auto China 2024 grandly opens amidst the vibrant spring, where the BMW Group booth shines brightly. The BMW Vision Neue Klasse made its China premiere and offered Chinese customers a glimpse of the new definition of BMW’s future premium individual mobility: more futuristic and more BMW than ever before, leading a quantum leap of the BMW models towards future new premium of electric, intelligent and circular. The newly launched new BMW i4 and the new BMW M4 continually attract young consumers with their stylish and innovative design, as well as distinctive sheer driving pleasure. The MINI brand opens a new chapter with the new MINI family, with the all-new all-electric MINI Aceman staging its world premiere and the all-new all-electric MINI Cooper making its official China debut. The two MINI models give a new interpretation of the iconic design with Charismatic Simplicity concept, and integrate electric and digital innovations into the brand DNA. At Auto Beijing 2024, BMW and MINI brands shine with a full line-up of 15 series. The BMW X family, represented by the new BMW X5, showcases the “richest” premium product lineup of the Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) segment; the upper and mid-size premium line-up, consisting of BMW 7 Series, 5 Series and 3 Series, demonstrates BMW’s ongoing leadership in this crucial market. The BMW booth covers almost all premium segments from entry-level compact cars to large premium cars, and has 4 drivetrains, from ICE to BEV PHEV and even hydrogen, showcasing BMW Group’s strong innovation leadership and consumer appeal. In 2024, BMW will present more than 20 new products and model updates for the BMW and MINI brands in China to further satisfy different demands of consumers.

Mr. Oliver Zipse, Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW AG, along with Mr. Jochen Goller, Member of the Board of Management of BMW AG, Customer, Brands and Sales, attended the press conference, reaffirming their long-term confidence and commitment to the Chinese market and outlining BMW’s innovation-driven vision for the future premium mobility. “BMW never stops innovating. Out approach in optimizing all drive technologies – not only promotes climate protection, but it ensures our customers will always find the right offer. With the NEUE KLASSE, we aimed to show the systematic implementation of the automotive industry's three major areas of future mobility combined–electric, with a clear focus on sustainability and fully digital, which means that we are carrying BMW into the future: in design, technology and philosophy.” said Mr. Oliver Zipse. Moreover, Mr. Adrian van Hooydonk, Senior Vice President of BMW Group Design, along with BMW and MINI design teams, also arrived in Beijing. Defining the future mobility: BMW Panoramic Vision brings innovative and subversive interaction and BMW Vision Neue Klasse leads a quantum leap of the BMW models towards future new premium of electric, intelligent and circular.

The BMW Vision Neue Klasse made its China premiere and displays the core features of future BMWs: Electric, Digital and Circular. It reinforces the BMW brand’s sportiness and premium with modern and innovative design and defines the future of intelligent premium. The first mass-produced NEUE KLASSE models will be launched in 2025. At least six different NEUE KLASSE models will be released in the first 24 months following the start of production.

The design of the BMW Vision Neue Klasse maintains classic elements of the BMW brand while making breakthrough innovations. The C-pillar on the side of the concept car is a new interpretation of the classic “Hofmeister kink,” enhancing its sportiness and improving the rear visibility. The front and rear of the car are visually striking. Combined with three-dimensional lines, they create a new design aesthetics that visually represents BMW’s “Sheer Driving Pleasure.”

Its all-electric vehicle architecture maximizes interior space. Sunlight streams into the car through large windows and a Sun Lounge panoramic glass sunroof, making the cabin become a warm, bright “second living space.” The launch of the BMW Panoramic Vision represents a quantum leap in head-up display technology, reinterpreting BMW’s driver-oriented philosophy. Key information is projected onto the bottom of the windshield in brighter light and higher contrast, which is on the same level with the road, without the driver taking their eyes off the road. Moreover, adhering to the driver-centric principle, the vehicle offers drivers the best views. For the first time, the central display adopts an innovative irregular shape, optimized for the driver’s line of sight to ensure optimal views while keeping “eyes on the road.”

Furthermore, in the NEUE KLASSE models, BMW’s Super-Brain brings “Sheer Driving Pleasure” to a new dimension. The result will be more precision, dynamic performance and higher efficiency. “BOOST” is designed to provide owners with BMW’s iconic Sheer Driving Pleasure when driving themselves, while “EASE” focuses on safe, relaxed and pleasant experience when being driven. BMW always pursues “EfficientDynamics” and the overall efficiency of the NEUE KLASSE models achieves a new breakthrough. The sixth generation BMW eDrive features a volumetric energy density more than 20% higher, an overall vehicle efficiency 25% higher, a range 30% more, and a charging platform increased to 800-volt.

Faithful to Sheer Driving Pleasure: the new BMW i4 and the new BMW M4 feature more eye-catching design and upgrading driving pleasure

In 2023, the BMW i4 became one of the best-selling premium BEVs worldwide, with over 80,000 units sold. At this auto show, the new BMW i4 makes its world premiere. Its new level of aesthetic design and driving pleasure will continue the sales legend. The upgraded exterior, including the BMW kidney grille, embodies the pioneering spirit of the new BMW i4, interpreting the essence of BMW’s “Sheer Driving Pleasure.” When driving, its low center of gravity, combined with BMW’s fifth-generation eDrive technology, shows the best way to experience its charm.

The BMW M is always the most attractive soul of the BMW brand. The new headlights on the new BMW M4 Coupé and the new BMW M4 Convertible, the Laserlight taillights unique to the special high-performance model BMW M4 CSL that is strictly limited to just 1,000 units worldwide, and other ingeniously crafted details exude futuristic technology and a more modern flair. Adhering to “Design serves functions” principle, the new models are equipped with the latest BMW Operating System, optimized M-Specific operating interface, and M Driving Mode drive the integration of humans and vehicles into the increasingly intelligent and digitized future. The new BMW M4 as the totem of the M brand perfectly interprets its car-making philosophy of “designed for racetrack but beyond racetrack”, offering Chinese customers ultimate Sheer Driving Pleasure and helping BMW to defend its strong competence in the field of high-performance vehicles.

As the classic British brand under the BMW Group, MINI stands out with many enthusiasts. The all new, all electric MINI Aceman, the first all-electric crossover of the brand, quickly captured the favor of MINI fans during its world premiere in Beijing. Sharing the stage is another member of the MINI family, the new all electric MINI Cooper, which also made its China premiere.

Embodied with the unique brand DNA, the two electric MINI models with the newly launched MINI JCW Countryman start a new chapter of the new MINI family, allowing more users to enjoy the individualized glamour of "Absolute MINI" at the Auto China 2024. The new MINI family with both ICE and BEV offerings shows that MINI is timeless and classic, always a trendsetter in the automotive world.

Speeding up product updates: In 2024, BMW will show more than 20 new products and model updates for the BMW and MINI brands in China

At the BMW booth, the BMW X family occupies a significant presence, much like their nearly half share in BMW’s total sales in the Chinese market. The X family is one of the pillars of the BMW brand. The launch of the BMW X5 in 1999 pioneered the high-performance SAV market. Over the past 25 years, the BMW Group has become one of the premium car manufacturers with the most comprehensive and diverse product line-up in the premium SAV market. The X5 even remains its NO.1 sales performance in its class. Looking ahead to 2024, the BMW X family will continue to introduce more new models, further consolidating its leadership in China’s premium SAV segment with strong competence.

BMW’s upper and midsize premium market, represented by the BMW 7 Series, the all new BMW 5 Series and BMW 3 Series, is one of BMW’s most important core markets and BMW takes its leading position in this segment. The newly launched new BMW 5 Series at the beginning of the year represents premium intelligent connected vehicles. Behind its young and disruptive luxury exterior lies a unique BMW driving pleasure enhanced by “human-machine co-pilot” and “driver-in-the-loop.” The flagship BMW 7 Series is the first in the large premium market to offer ICE, NEV and PHEV to satisfy diverse customer demands.
