(Chongqing) On August 29, the 2020 BMW Children’s Traffic Safety Education traveled to Chongqing and staged a two-day pop-up event at Longfor Times Paradise Walk. The event open to the public brought a feast of education on traffic safety that was both educational and entertaining to children and their parents before the start of a new school semester.
The pop-up event received an all-round upgrade while retaining the classic format of the program. During the event, children could not only drive mini BMW electric cars at the “AnAn Driving School” but also ride mini BMW motorcycles with helmets on while learning traffic safety knowledge. In a positive response to “One Helmet, One Belt” traffic safety campaign initiated by the Traffic Management Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security, this year’s pop-up event upgraded the “BMW Good Driver” module to a “BMW Good Driver” and BMW Good Rider” interactive photography zone where parents could take photos with their children. The pop-up event also featured a new “AnAn Warm Heart Ambassador” module where participants could operate on an interactive display and generate a cartoon-style “One Helmet, One Belt” poster of their own. The new “AnAn Warm Heart Ambassador” module was enthusiastically received by both children and their parents. The highlight, “Blind Lottery Box” component, involved an online interactive prize game accessed by scanning the official WeChat account of BMW CSR.
As a model corporate participant in China Road Traffic Safety Charity Alliance established by the Traffic Management Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security, BMW has been always focus on traffic safety education and call on the public to pay attention to driving etiquette and traffic safety. In 2017, in response to the "China Good Driver" campaign launched by the Traffic Management Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security, BMW launched the "BMW Good Driver" initiative calling on BMW owners to obey traffic rules and practice traffic etiquette. BMW is also the first to respond to the “One Helmet, One Belt” safety campaign by introducing the “BMW Good Rider” initiative which, together with the “BMW Good Driver” initiative, calls on BMW car and motorcycle riders to wear safety belts and helmets correctly. Through the "BMW Good Rider" CSR campaign, BMW Corporate Social Responsibility calls on BMW motorcycle owners across the country to travel in full gear in all seasons, participate in safety training, and set a role model of traffic rule compliance and courteous driving.
In view of the pandemic prevention, CTSE shifted part of its activities online. On Children’s Day, the Children’s Traffic Safety Education Online Platform, jointly established by China Children's Press & Publication Group (CCPPG) and Traffic Safety Research Center of the Ministry of Public Security, under the guidance of the Traffic Management Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security, was launched. BMW, as a representative of outstanding enterprises of the China Road Traffic Safety Charity Alliance, becomes among the first organizations to join the platform.
On the platform, BMW offers a series of online education modules including online game, AR exhibition, online training class and live-streaming room to meet the public needs for children’s traffic safety education and provides diversified support and services on three dimensions: In schools, teachers and volunteers can join forces with local traffic police to teach students about traffic safety; at BMW authorized dealerships nationwide, dealers can invite customers to their stores to attend CTSE ambassador training and traffic safety classes; and at home, parents can use the online platform's educational resources to teach their children about traffic safety awareness.
The BMW Children’s Traffic Safety Education is the longest-standing CSR program of BMW in China and has been around for 16 years. The program aims to help children learn about traffic safety and raise their awareness of road safety and self-protection in an engaging way that is both educational and entertaining. In 2018, BMW launched the “BMW Children’s Traffic Safety Ambassadors” program which joined hands with local traffic police, dealers, BMW owners, and associate volunteers to provide engaging traffic safety courses on school campuses. Aside from that, the program could also advance traffic safety education at schools and involve other stakeholders in the program. In 2019, BMW upgraded its city roadshows into popular pop-up events which would stage in the halls of city shopping malls and open to the public, which covered more than 710,000 visitors in previous year. In addition, BMW has partnered with CCPPG to release the Children’s Traffic Safety Education Guidebook under the guidance of Traffic Management Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security, devising teaching standards for the training of volunteers and ambassadors.
