(Beijing) On Nov.1st, BMW Education of Sales & Service Talent (BEST) Beijing training base opens at Beijing Changping Vocational School. As the first ever premium automobile manufacturer in China that conducted talent training in the form of school-enterprise cooperation, BMW implements Germany’s mature dual vocational education system, which combines professional knowledge and apprenticeships in dealerships. It has fostered thousands of high-quality professional service talents for China’s auto industry.
Mr. Sean Green, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing at BMW Brilliance Automotive Ltd, joined the open ceremony and said that, “China is now at the forefront of setting customer trends and defining future mobility. It’s more than just the largest sales market to BMW, it is the strategic market of global business, the innovation spearhead and one of the largest production bases. BMW, as an industry leader and responsible corporate citizen, lays emphasis on talent cultivation in the after-sales sector. We deem high-caliber talents as a key to BMW’s sustainable development. We capitalizes on our resources to build platforms where it joins hands with academies, dealers and other social forces to realize sustainable growth.”
The Beijing Training Base opening marks BEST’s first time reaching out to mega cities in one of the mega cities (Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen) since its launch in 2006. Therefore, the launch will provide BMW dealerships in mega cities with more aftersales talents, and offer more job opportunities for BEST students in mega cities. Apart from the original courses including mechanical class, body technician class and paint technician class, new courses related to NEV and sales contents have been added to the program in Beijing in order to help students cater to auto market demands and social development trends. In addition, all the tools and equipment used in the program are the same with the ones for BMW dealerships, including advanced workshop network analysis system to provide students with the latest and most comprehensive technical and maintenance resources.
BEST has achieved excellent results for the past decade. It has collaborated with 16 vocational schools with a total of around 7,000 students, fostering a large number of talents for the auto industry in China, and those students employed by BMW dealership system after evaluation provide strong support for BMW’s high-quality sales and after-sales services. Through years of innovative practices, BEST has collaborated with schools, enterprises, students, dealerships and even the society to ensure a win-win situation.
BEST combines theoretical education with on-the-job training with the joint efforts of BMW with cooperative schools. It has established 16 training bases in 14 provinces and municipalities, and has collaborated with more than 400 dealerships nationwide. While improving students’ skills such as auto maintenance, BMW sets up a model for school-enterprise collaborations in the auto industry. BEST plans to expand to 18 bases in China within the next year.
Based on Germany’s mature dual vocational education system, BMW has established a comprehensive and systematic education system to integrate talent training into every link including production, sales, aftersales, etc. in order to foster talents for the company’s sustainable development. As another key implementation of BMW’s dual vocational education system in China, BBA signed 10 Dual Vocational Education cooperation agreements with 9 universities and colleges in Shenyang in June 2019. This marks the first time of BMW expanding Dual Education programs to institutions of higher education and will largely improve the scale of vocational education. It cultivates more high-caliber talents for the sustainable growth of BMW and helps to realize the breakthroughs of BBA dual education system in terms of quality and quantity.
In the future, BMW will further improve education quality for students and broader BEST’s training fields and collaborations. Through BEST, BMW creates job opportunities for students at vocational schools, provides talents for BMW dealerships and better trains the staff there. BWM will use world-leading technologies and pioneering training concepts to support vocational education in Chinese auto industry.
Under Strategy Number One>Next, BMW upgraded its corporate social responsibility back in 2016 from charitable donation to strategic public welfare. BMW fully utilizes its resources and competences to train students sufficiently and prepares them for future careers, thus promoting sustainable development for Chinese society.
