The test drive event covered the beautiful scenery route that started from Shanghai to Jinji Lake in Suzhou, as well as the passionate and exciting test drive at Shanghai International Circuit. The all-new BMW 1 Series Sedan had a real fun time at one of the world’s most exciting, thrilling tracks-Shanghai International Circuit. The challenging circuit is a real test for all cars, and the all-new BMW 1 Series Sedan has successfully delivered smooth and ideal track in a dynamic way thanks to the combinations of impressive powertrain, solid chassis and a series of innovative electronic assistance systems. It completely addressed people’s concern on the performance of a front-wheel-drive model with its impressive result especially at curves as there is no real difference between this car and that of a rear-wheel-drive BMW.

The great performance of the all-new BMW 1 Series Sedan comes from a strong powertrain: fitted with the latest BMW B-series engine offering three major technical features, i.e.the fourth-generation VALVETRONIC, high-precision fuel direct injection and the turbocharged technology; contributing a faster and immediate revving response and greater fuel efficiency. The new 6-speed and 8-speed Steptronic transmissions come as perfect matches with the engines. The running efficiency is much higher and shifts are smoother. The engine can deliver the peak torque from 1250 rpm. Equipped with a 2.0T engine, the all-new BMW 125i outputs 231 horsepower and 350 Nm torque, and takes only 6.8 seconds to accelerate from 0-100km/h.

As the youngest BMW, the all-new BMW 1 Series Sedan also carries the advantage of the family: sporty chassis and precise steering. The all-new BMW 1 Series Sedan is featured with an equilong transmission shaft design, which is unique in segment, helping reduce the torque spin when the vehicle is started, and further improving stability.

The steering system on the all-new BMW 1 Series Sedan went through more than a hundred parameters’ adjustment, to reach to an acute and agile status which can be compared to the “King of Sports, BMW 3 Series”. As another unique feature of its class, under the engine compartment, the adoption of aluminum alloy apron is applied for additional strength and improved precision and sharp steering.

The all-new BMW 1 Series Sedan has showed full confidence on the race track. And, on top of the outstanding chassis and precision in steering, the electronic assistance systems also contribute greatly. Performance Control is a standard configuration which underlines the safety and stability when the car is turning. In the circumstances of when the car is turning under high speed, front-wheel-drive cars can easily loose its steering, and with the Performance Control, the system can selectively brake on the inside of the wheel to pull the car back to the right track.

On the highway, the all-new BMW 1 Series Sedan balances both sportiness and comfort thanks to its solid chassis design that have been intensively tuned by the BMW engineers to suit Chinese customers’ needs. As such, the damper is the one detail that have been tuned for more than 100 rounds to provide comfort and sporty driving where roads might be cracked or repaired roughly, or even going through speed bumpers particularly in China. The engineers also did noise deduction and optimization for the Chinese customers in areas of the tyres, air conditioning, windshield, and brake. The larget sunroof in segment at 0.7m² enables the car with bright interior environment, providing extra comfort while driving or riding.
