BMW Brilliance Welcomes Dr. Johann Wieland as New President and CEO

(Munich/Beijing) BMW Group and Brilliance Automotive (China) Holding Ltd. have jointly appointed Dr. Johann Wieland as the President and CEO of BMW Brilliance Automotive Ltd., effective October 1st, 2016. Dr. Anton Heiss, the current President and CEO of BMW Brilliance Automotive Ltd. and former Senior Vice President Technology and Manufacturing of BMW Brilliance Automotive Ltd., will return to Germany after his assignment in China.

Dr. Johann Wieland has been with the BMW Group for 27 years and brings extensive management experience to the position. He joined the company in 1989 after obtaining his PhD in economics and social sciences from the University of Regensburg in Germany. Earlier in his career at the BMW Group, he was responsible for controlling, price and volume planning, strategic corporate planning and MINI project management in the USA. In 1999, he became General Manager US Retail Operations. In the year 2000, he was appointed Vice President, responsible for International Corporate and Direct Sales, and later on for Strategic Planning. Since 2005, Dr. Wieland has held positions as Senior Vice President, responsible for Group Controlling, Supply Chain Powertrain and Indirect Purchasing, respectively.
