(Beijing) On June 30th, The Children's Traffic Safety Education in the West Public Welfare Workshop and 2022 BMW Children's Traffic Safety Education Kick-off Ceremony was successfully held in Beijing. A joint initiative was made by delegates of the Traffic Management Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security, BMW China, the China Education Development Foundation, the Youth Volunteer Action Tutorial Center of the Communist Youth League of China Central Committee and the China Children’s Press & Publication Group: pooling social strength together to keep the momentum of children’s traffic safety education in rural areas is a major step of building a beautiful countryside and a Peaceful China. Taking lead in responding to the needs of government and society, BMW China announced: on its 18th birthday, BMW Children’s Traffic Safety Education will undertake more responsibilities through creative content and extensive social collaboration. In terms of content, the “Travel with Propriety” traffic safety propriety package, co-developed by BMW, the China Education Development Foundation and the China Children’s Press & Publication Group, will be used as the major teaching toolbox, to advance the “Travel with Propriety, Travel Safely with Children” initiative. In terms of social collaboration, under the guidance of the Traffic Management Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security, 2022 BMW Children's Traffic Safety Education, together with the Youth Volunteer Action Tutorial Center of the Communist Youth League of China Central Committee and the China Education Development Foundation, will enter schools and communities in the countryside of western China. After joining the professional children’s traffic safety education volunteer training, volunteers will deliver and promote the children’s traffic safety experience courses in local communities and schools with “Travel with Propriety” traffic safety propriety packages.

In recent years, along with high-quality development, car ownership has been increasing in western China. While the scarcity of traffic safety education and society resources must be heeded. With the growing complexity of traffic situation, the limitation of traffic safety publicity and education material is more serious. And the urban-rural gap of traffic safety education still exists. The Action Plan for Promotion and Education on Traffic Safety (2021-2023), issued by the Traffic Management Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security in early 2021, set the special task of improving and consolidating traffic safety education in western rural areas. Through the appeal of social cooperation, it aims at continually improving the publicity and level of traffic safety education, as well as the awareness of traffic safety, law and propriety, to support the rural vitalization strategy and the construction of a safe traffic environment.

BMW China puts sustainability as the core corporate strategy, which is anchored in three dimensions: environment, society and governance, with high focus on environment protection, as well as human being and society. During the event, President and CEO of BMW Group Region China Mr. Jochen Goller noted, “At home in China, BMW Group continues to create value for the Chinese customer, the local society and industry for mutual benefits. We firmly believe that good corporate citizenship encompasses the company’s social commitment well beyond pure business results. The success of BMW Children’s Traffic Safety Education and BMW CSR in China can be attributed to our dedication to reading the insights and understanding the actual demand of society and based on this deeply engaging with breakthrough ideas jointly with our stakeholders. The longstanding BMW Children’s Traffic Safety Education program brings our corporate strategy ‘At home in China’ to life.”

In 2021, to address the most pressing issues in public traffic safety awareness, BMW Children’s Traffic Safety Education first mooted the “Travel with Propriety” initiative through the innovative transformation and use of the Chinese traditional culture of “propriety”. The concept at the core of traffic etiquette is “propriety”: that is, the respect between people, the respect of order in the relationship between people, and the relationship between people and society. This takes form in several scenarios, characterized by three core concepts: “propriety” as a pedestrian, a passenger and a driver. Exploring points of connection between traditional culture and modern society, BMW Children’s Traffic Safety Education attracted extensive public attention and recognition and the “Travel with Propriety” initiative was known via city roadshows and online interactions.

Besides, under the guidance of the Traffic Management Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security, BMW Children’s Traffic Safety Education, joining forces with the China Children’s Press & Publication Group, donated the “Travel with Propriety” traffic safety propriety packages to nationwide traffic police and schools along national and provincial highways, to further promote children’s traffic safety education in schools, benefitting more than 190,000 students.

In 2022, upgraded to a new stage, the “Travel with Propriety” initiative will go to the western China, leverage the design power and be more visible and understandable in real and specific traffic scenarios. To popularize and apply the initiative further, the “Travel with Propriety” civilized traffic idea collection campaign will be launched. As a trailblazer of social innovation design serving the public welfare in auto industry, the creation of this campaign will vividly illustrate “Travel with Propriety” initiative in specific traffic scenarios.

During the workshop, representatives of different social partners reached consensus on improving children’s traffic safety education to build a safe and beautiful countryside.

At home in China, BMW Group China continues to create value for the customer, local society, and industry for mutual growth. BMW believes that a responsible business has its sights set beyond sales and profit, and instead puts more focus on engaging stakeholders to jointly address social issues and contribute to local communities. Closely following and with deep insights into the Chinese government and society’s major social agendas, BMW CSR targets three social issues—Culture Protection, Social Development and Environmental Protection—to continuously contribute to a better Chinese society through four flagship projects—BMW China Culture Journey, BMW Children’s Traffic Safety Education, BMW JOY Home, and BMW Beautiful Homeland Initiative.

A “New Height” for Children's Traffic Safety Training Course
2022 BMW Children's Traffic Safety Education Goes into Qinghai Province

(XINING) On August 15th, " Children's Traffic Safety Education Goes to the Western China - 2022 BMW Children's Traffic Safety Training Course" was officially launched in Xining, Qinghai Province. In the next two weeks, the BMW Children's Traffic Safety Education will go to 5 key rural revitalization counties in Qinghai Province, including Jainca County, Tongren County, Maqin County, Gonghe County, and Yushu, carrying out children’s traffic safety training courses in plateau areas with an average altitude of more than 3,600 meters. Under the guidance of the Traffic Management Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security, BMW Children’s Traffic Safety Education, together with the Youth Volunteer Action Tutorial Center of the Communist Youth League of China Central Committee, the China Education Development Foundation and the China Children’s Press & Publication Group, will offer professional volunteer training for local traffic police, young teachers, university students, BMW customers and dealers. After the training, the volunteers will go to the local campus to carry out the courses, promoting the development of children's traffic safety education in western rural areas.

At the kick-off ceremony of the 2022 BMW Children's Traffic Safety Education held in June of this year, BMW responded to the rural vitalization strategy, extensively engaged stakeholders, put forward the initiative of "Children's Traffic Safety Education Goes to the Western China" for the first time, and then immediately took action to implement the initiative. The training sites for the Children's Traffic Safety Training Course are all located in the plateau area of Qinghai Province, with an average altitude of over 3,600 meters, of which Yushu has an average altitude of 4,493.4 meters, setting a new record for the highest altitude reached by the BMW Children's Traffic Safety Education.

The “Travel with Propriety” traffic safety propriety package, co-developed by BMW, the China Education Development Foundation and the China Children’s Press & Publication Group, will be used as the major teaching toolbox, to advance the “Travel with Propriety, Travel Safely with Children” initiative. Through the method of "teaching a man how to fish", we will empower local traffic police, teachers, university student volunteers, BMW dealers and car owners to improve their teaching ability and professional level with diversified and systematic training courses, promoting the development of children’s traffic safety education in western rural areas. At the same time, the BMW Children's Traffic Safety Education will donate educational resources to local traffic police and schools, such as miniature module teaching aids, “Travel with Propriety” traffic safety propriety packages, traffic safety education magic boxes, safety yellow hats and children's traffic safety reading books, providing material support for the in-depth development of traffic safety education activities.

In recent years, with the economic development in the western region and the overall victory of poverty alleviation, the car ownership has been increasing in the western and rural areas, and the traffic situation is getting more complex. However, the gap between urban and rural areas in traffic safety education still exists, the awareness of traffic safety, law and propriety need to be improved, and there is an urgent need for children's traffic safety education.

The conference saw the launch of a joint advocacy in response to the Action Plan for Promotion and Education on Traffic Safety (2021-2023), incorporating the voices of attendees from various sectors of society including, public welfare groups such as the BMW Children’s Traffic Safety Education, the Road Traffic Safety Research Center of the Ministry of Public Security, China Children Press and Publication Group, as well experts in law, culture and communications, volunteers, and local traffic police. The advocacy seeks to comprehensively optimize and improve children’s traffic safety publicity and education efforts, strengthen collective social efforts to improve traffic safety, and contribute to the overarching goal of improving awareness of traffic safety, law, regulations and propriety.

President and CEO of BMW Brilliance Automotive Co. Ltd. Dr. Johann Wieland noted, “No responsibility, no premium. BMW’s corporate social responsibility philosophy states that a leading business must have a corporate mission that goes far beyond sales and profitability — it should seek to continuously contribute to the progression of society. With our partners, the BMW Children’s Traffic Safety Education continues to produce innovative content, and strengthen the integration of dealers, car owners, the general public and other stakeholders, making innovative contributions to the improvement of traffic safety education.”

In order to address the current gap in school and family education surrounding children’s traffic safety education, this year, the BMW Children’s Traffic Safety Education enrich the content with the concept of ‘Safety’, ‘Propriety’, ‘Regulations’ and ‘Legal’, which will released through the ‘Children’s Traffic Safety Education’ online platform ( http://jtaq.k618.cn) , providing teachers and students, as well as parents and children with a more convenient way to learn about the knowledge of traffic safety. This year, in keeping with the times, BMW will launch BMW Children’s Traffic Safety Education roadshows in four major cities — Beijing, Hefei, Nanjing and Shenzhen — which will be free and open to the public. Also, China Education Development Foundation BMW Warm Heart Fund will donate traffic safety education toolboxes, traffic safety propriety package, safety vests and yellow caps to the schools and organizations alongside, to provide resource support of traffic safety to schools and teachers, and further implement traffic safety education in school for quality education.

The concept at the core of traffic etiquette is ‘propriety’: that is, respect between people, and the respect of order in the relationship between people, as well as the relationship between people and society. This takes form in several scenarios, characterised by three core concepts: ‘propriety’ as a pedestrian, passenger and a driver. This explores points of connection between traditional culture and modern society, helping parents and children to understand and practice ‘propriety’ through the marriage of knowledge and practical experience, thereby improving traffic safety awareness and behaviour. This is an excellent and innovative example of the promotion of traditional Chinese culture advocated by the government, in a ‘creative and transformative’ manner that effectively enhances awareness of traffic safety.”

2021 BMW Children’s Traffic Safety Education Pop-Up Event in Wuxi

(WUXI)On July 17th, 2021 BMW Children’s Traffic Safety Education Pop-Up Event commenced in Wuxi. Through relaxing and fun interactive games and activities, children and their parents gained awareness of traffic safety in an entertaining atmosphere. The event was aimed at instilling traffic safety knowledge through an unforgettable summer vacation activity.

The Wuxi pop-up event had all the classic elements of BMW Children’s Traffic Safety Education loved by children. Children learned traffic propriety knowledge through the experience of participating in the ‘AnAn Driving School’, ‘BMW Good Driver’, and ‘BMW Good Rider' programs. Traffic Challenge was also added as a new type of program in which parents guided their children to answer traffic safety questions at traffic scenes and also played a card game that replicates different traffic situations. Children learned about the traffic safety knowledge during the An’an Classroom. Parents and their children also enthusiastically participated in the “Please Give An’an Ambassador A Thumb Up!” session where they watched a volunteer education video of An’an Ambassador with great relish and gave the Ambassador applause at the end. The new additions and improvements to the programs further promoted the children’s traffic safety education goal of “Travel with Propriety, Travel Safely with Children” by engaging children and their parents in actively practicing proper driving and riding behaviors and complying with traffic safety laws and regulations. Better driving and pedestrian propriety will help to establish a new sense of traffic civility throughout the community.

As a model enterprise in the China Road Traffic Safety Charity Alliance, which was founded by the Traffic Management Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security, BMW always has been deeply concerned in and involved with road traffic education and engaging the public in spreading awareness of driving propriety and traffic safety. This year’s BMW Children’s Traffic Safety Education was a proactive response to the call of the Traffic Management Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security to improve traffic safety publicity and education. Under the Traffic Management Bureau’s guidance, BMW cooperated with the China Children’s Press & Publication Group to jointly promote the event. Providing children’s traffic safety education through emphasizing communal values will help build long-term awareness.

In order to address the current gap in school and family education, and in knowledge transmission and comprehensive quality improvement surrounding children’s traffic safety education, China Education Development Foundation BMW Warm Heart Fund is the first organization to donate traffic safety education toolboxes, traffic safety propriety package, safety vests and yellow caps to schools and related institutions along the national highway to provide schools and teachers with resources of traffic safety education. The 2021 Traveling in Propriety series of children’s traffic safety and propriety experience online micro-class also saw the launch of a new “Children’s Traffic Safety Education” platform (http://jtaq.k618.cn). This year’s BMW Children’s Traffic Safety Education organically integrated four new educational themes of ‘Safety’, ‘Propriety’, ‘Regulations’ and ‘Legal’, to the existing experience class curriculum surrounding “preserving safety, being rule-abiding, civilized, and law-abiding” subjects. The traffic safety propriety package is designed to go with the new aspects of the curriculum, which together will help systematically help parents and students learn more efficiently and conveniently about traffic safety and propriety.

The development of BMW Children’s Traffic Safety Education in the past 17 years exemplifies BMW’s long-term commitment to the Chinese society, and the program has benefited more than 100 million people. Established in 2019, BMW has continued to innovate and improve its original urban roadside Children’s Traffic Safety Education activities, focusing on the most popular ways to engage children and parents. Better processes, more lively and interesting content, and more interactive experiences have gradually enhanced the quality of participation of children and their families. In concert with the online micro classes and other linkages of the program, the BMW Children's Traffic Safety Education has realized seamless integration of its online and offline resources, an achievement which has brought increasing attention to children's road traffic safety education.

2021 BMW Children’s Traffic Safety Education Pop-Up Event in Hefei

(HEFEI)On September 25th, 2021 BMW Children’s Traffic Safety Education Pop-Up Event commenced in Hefei where children can enjoy an interactive and multi-faceted journey of traffic safety. Colorful, entertaining, and guaranteed to make teaching fun, the event enabled children and parents actively involved to acquire an unforgettable memory and precious knowledge as well.

The Hefei pop-up event came with four modules: “An An Classroom”, “An An Driving School”, “BMW Good Driver” and “BMW Good Rider”, “An An Ambassador” aiming to let children learn traffic safety etiquette knowledge in the context of daily traffic travel. The simulation scene designed according to the parent-child relationship allows children and parents to play various roles in transportation. While encouraging children to learn and master various safety knowledge, it also allows parents to have a further understanding of traffic etiquette in a subtle way. "An An Driving School" allows children to truly experience a series of emergencies that can be encountered in live traffic. The immersive experience is well received. In addition, the "please leave me a thumb up" section in the "An An Ambassador" delivered practical traffic etiquette such as "say thank you with your thumbs", which also won the unanimous approval of the children and parents.

This year’s BMW Children’s Traffic Safety Education was a proactive response to the call of the Traffic Management Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security to improve traffic safety publicity and education. BMW cooperated with the China Children’s Press & Publication Group to promote the event. Focusing on the pain points and root causes of the promotion of civilized awareness in the current traffic safety environment, the "propriety culture" in the excellent traditional culture of the Chinese nation and the "civilized awareness" of traffic safety are well integrated, so that the public can understand and start fulfilling it as it has been implemented. Experts in traditional culture, educational psychology, traffic safety, laws and regulations, etc., sorted out that the core connotation of "civilized transportation" is "propriety": the mutual respect between people; the order between people and society. They also produced the core content of "the propriety of walking", "the propriety of riding in a car" and "the propriety of driving" based on the specific scenes. The connection point between traditional culture and modern society was found to help parents and children learn and understand the meaning of “propriety”, and the meaning of “the unity of knowledge and action”, thus improving traffic behavior and enhancing the awareness of civilization. This is not only an effective exploration to implement the "creative transformation and innovative development" of the government's promotion of excellent Chinese traditional culture, but also an innovative measure to effectively enhance the awareness of civilized traffic safety.

The development of BMW Children’s Traffic Safety Education in the past 17 years exemplifies BMW’s long-term commitment to the Chinese society, and the program has benefited more than 100 million people. Established in 2019, BMW has continued to innovate and improve its original urban roadside Children’s Traffic Safety Education activities, focusing on the most popular ways to engage children and parents to participate in children’s traffic safety education. At the same time, BMW has also provided traffic safety education resources to schools through the BMW Love Fund of the China Education Development Foundation. Safety and civilized experience class series of micro-classes. Guided by strategic corporate social responsibility, BMW will continue to address practical issues across the community and in society by a series of activities like Children’s Traffic Safety Education. Through deeds that match our words, BMW is committed to be a driving force in sustainability.

These activities not only cultivate positive traffic safety culture in children from a young age, but also make a positive influence on the parents, promoting the importance of civilized travel throughout the whole society. The BMW CTSE program greatly complements our daily work. "

2018 BMW Children's Traffic Safety Education also pays close attention to children's traffic safety education in schools. Guided by the Ministry of Public Security, the 2018 BMW Children's Traffic Safety Education, joining hands with China Children's Press and Publication Group, has launched BMW Children's Traffic Safety Ambassador in school. (Beijing) Today, 2017 BMW Children's Traffic Safety Education (CTSE) program kicks off in Chaoyang Park, Beijing. The first and longest-running BMW CSR program, this year's CTSE, themed "Join Hands for Children's Safety on the Move", has launched a new initiative built on its efforts to improve children's traffic safety - "BMW Good Driver". The "BMW Good Driver" campaign advocates good traffic behavior among adult drivers to create a safe traffic environment for children. Over the next five months, CTSE will be launched in Hangzhou, Guiyang, Shenyang and Changsha.

At the opening ceremony of CTSE, Dr. Johann Wieland, President & CEO of BMW Brilliance Automotive Ltd., along with BMW's dealers, customers and associates, together kicked off "BMW Good Driver". BMW will engage dealers, customers and associates to take part in a series of online and offline "BMW Good Driver" activities to reduce bad driving behavior and promote civilized traffic, thereby enhancing drivers' safety awareness and creating a safe road environment for children at the same time.

In partnership with China Children's Press & Publication Group, BMW Brilliance is also introducing a children's traffic safety book series, "BMW Children's Traffic Safety Education – the Magic Castle of Safety Education" and 4D augmented reality teaching tools (AR); these will be freely distributed to primary and secondary school children in certain regions. The book series presents six real world scenarios that are likely to occur in children's daily life, covers more than 100 items of traffic safety knowledge, and allows parents and children to learn children's road safety and other children's safety knowledge together.

Dr. Johann Wieland said, "As an industry advocator that practices strategic CSR, each BMW's CSR program originates from first identifying a specific social problem. BMW CTSE has persevered in the field for 13 years, becoming a long running children's road safety CSR project in the Chinese auto industry. With a focus on children's safety at its core, BMW's 2017 Children's Traffic Safety Education launched the civilized traffic initiative "BMW Good Driver". Through BMW's CSR commitment, we hope to lead the 3 million BMW owners in China as well as BMW associates and authorized dealers to become role models in making a pledge to civilized driving and promoting road safety for children."

Ms. Zhang Ming, the director of Department of Publicity and Education, Traffic Management of the Public Security Ministry, said: "The mission to improve children's road traffic safety is a monumental one but also arduous. The Public Security Ministry will continue to take action against illegal traffic behavior and innovatively promote traffic safety in order to provide a safe environment for children as well as guide them in recognizing threats and avoiding danger. At the same time, we hope parents earnestly fulfill their duties as guardians, and set good examples for children in terms of traffic safety." Ms. Zhang has also made an appeal for more companies related to the auto industry to follow the example of BMW and join the charity-based traffic safety promotion alliance, actively fulfilling corporate social responsibility, producing innovations and launching a series of effective promotional charity activities.

According to the "Children's Road Traffic Injury Situation in China Research Report" released by the Ministry of Public Security's Road Traffic Safety Research Center and China's Center for Disease Control and Prevention, about 87.09% of traffic accidents involving children are caused by adults’ improper driving. In fact, adult drivers’ poor and illegal driving habits constitute a main threat to children's road safety. In light of that, the Traffic Management Bureau of the Public Security Ministry launched an appeal for civilized traffic with its "China Good Driver" initiative, leveraging the strength and influence of auto corporations and car clubs to promote adult drivers’ good traffic behavior and create a safe road environment for children. In support of the government's call, 2017 BMW CTSE has launched "BMW Good Driver", a themed campaign that targets adult drivers. This campaign is initiated by BMW, but extends its reach much further; using popular social platforms, this campaign encourages the public to participate by sharing photos and videos of their own courteous travel habits examples, making good on their commitment to civilized traffic.

2017 BMW CTSE emphasizes the use of technology and interactive scenario-based teaching method, introducing the new "AnAn Magic Lab" and "AnAn School Bus" as well as upgrading "AnAn TTT Classroom". In "AnAn Magic Lab", children embarks on a magical road safety journey through cutting-edge AR technology. In "AnAn School Bus", children learns self-help knowledge and masters road safety skills in real-life scenarios. The new version of "AnAn TTT Classroom" invites a children's psychology expert to share practical knowledge on children's traffic safety using personal experience in the form of TED talks.

As one of CSR program committed to children's road safety, BMW Children's Traffic Safety Education has been ongoing for 13 years with footprints across 64 cities, benefitting more than 400,000 people.

Joining Hands Big and Small, Together We Care for Children's Traffic Safety

2016 BMW Children's Traffic Safety Education Kicked Off

(Beijing) The 2016 BMW Children's Traffic Safety Education program (CTSE) was officially launched at Beijing Olympic Forest Park on May 31st. Dr. Anton Heiss, President & CEO, BMW Brilliance Automotive Ltd., announced that the program, with the theme of "Joining Hands Big and Small, Together We Care for Children's Traffic Safety," will feature comprehensive innovations in programming, participants and content while entering its 12th consecutive year. In the five months to come, this program will successively travel to Hefei, Shanghai, Shenyang, Wuhan and Foshan. Furthermore, in celebration of BMW's 100th anniversary, CTSE will set up the first fixed BMW Children's Traffic Safety Education Experience Center in Shenyang.

Mr. Li Zejun, Sub-Inspector, Traffic Management Bureau, the Ministry of Public Security; Mr. Wang Jing, Secretary General, China Road Traffic Safety Association; Mr. Han Min, Editor-in-Chief, General Manager, China Communications Press Co., Ltd., as well as VIPs from Road Traffic Safety Research Center of the Ministry of Public Security, and China Road Traffic Safety Association also participated in the ceremony.

At the kick-off ceremony, Dr. Anton Heiss and guests donated the Traffic Safety Education Book for Primary and Secondary School Students, jointly published by BMW Brilliance Automotive Ltd. and China Communications Press Co., Ltd., to parents and children who attended the activity. The book, covering road etiquette and traffic safety knowledge, will be distributed for free to primary and secondary students in several regions around China in an effort to spread children's traffic safety knowledge more widely and comprehensively.

"BMW CTSE is our first corporate social responsibility program that has been running successfully for 12 years," said Dr. Anton Heiss. "The program has traveled through 63 cities, bringing road safety education to more than 390,000 parents and their children. We are so happy to see that we have made a difference in building a safer world for children, and that is the motivation and reason behind the implementation of our CSR strategy."

Mr. Li Zejun, Sub-Inspector, Traffic Management Bureau, the Ministry of Public Security, stated: "Children's traffic safety has been a focus for the Traffic Management Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security for a long time. Recently, the Ministry of Public Security has frequently requested that local public security and traffic management departments strengthen the management of school buses and the promotion of children's traffic safety. Additionally, we have been performing detailed investigations on school buses and vehicles in collaboration with departments of the Ministry of Education. And we have conducted activities like "Guardian Angel" at schools and kindergartens. We have realized that to enhance children's safety is not only the responsibility of the government, but also that of every parent, as well as all members of society. Every parent should be an active learner of traffic safety knowledge and set good examples in following traffic regulations." Mr. Li also encouraged more enterprises to participate in CSR activities to promote children's traffic safety, and more mainstream media to care for children's traffic safety, so as to increase the awareness on traffic safety, especially on that for children.

According to relative statistics, automobile accidents are one of the primary causes of injury to children in China, with 11,500 children under the age of 12 having died or been injured due to traffic accidents. Parents are of great importance in ensuring the safety of children under 12, however, parents in China generally lack safety awareness or general safety knowledge, which is the major reason behind the high frequency of traffic accidents involving children.

Therefore, the 2016 BMW CTSE program takes parents’ education as a priority and teaches them practical safety knowledge, such as how to use a safety seat properly. At present, vehicles are one of the most frequent modes of transportation for children and are one of the main causes of fatalities among children under 17, mainly due to the lack or improper use of the child safety seat. Additionally, the program will teach parents in-car and out-of-car safety knowledge that is normally overlooked in order to further cultivate their driving habits and etiquettes, in turn creating a safer environment for children.

Programmatically, the theme park has initiated three brand-new modules: "AnAn Train The Trainer Classroom," "AnAn Innovation Club" and "AnAn Dollschat Club". Firstly, professional trainers from the BMW China Training Academy systematically explain children's traffic safety and introduce the dos and don’ts when using a child safety seat. Parents and children can also practice and experience the traffic safety education through playing a game called "AnAn Traffic School." Secondly, the AnAn Innovation Club, a result of design thinking, inspires children's creativity and develops their capabilities. Lastly, the "AnAn Dollschat Club" creates a fascinating interactive space and teaches children about traffic safety through playing games.

Following current public reading habits, AnAn's Story, the BMW CTSE series cartoon, will be upgraded to short animated videos, rich with knowledge and humor, which can be played via mobile platforms, to spread efficiently and effectively on children's traffic safety education to target audiences.

As early as 2005, BMW CTSE was introduced to China, making BMW one of automotive companies who launch such corporate social responsibility program in the country in earlier times. The program has been carried out in 63 cities and benefited more than 390,000 people to date. With wit and humor, the content of the BMW Traffic Safety Textbook for Schoolchildren and the AnAn's Story TV series consistently receive much praise from both children and parents across the nation.

2016 BMW Children's Traffic Safety Education Kicked Off in Hefei

(HEFEI) Following its Beijing Stop on May 31st, 2016 BMW Children's Traffic Safety Education (CTSE) continued its journey in Hefei on June 23rd. During its four-day stay in Hefei, BMW CTSE brought an excellent training experience to the parents and their children on traffic safety education. As one of the most influential CSR program on children's traffic safety education in China, 2016 BMW CTSE features comprehensive innovations in programming, participants and content with the theme of "Joining Hands Big and Small, Together We Care for Children's Traffic Safety."

Molly Yang, Vice President of BMW Brilliance Automotive Ltd., said: "Over the past decade, China quickly became a mobile society. As a result, new challenges, such as road safety, have become serious social issues, increasing the demand for traffic safety education, especially that of children. As one of the most successful premium automotive manufacturers, BMW has committed itself to promoting children's traffic safety. In China, BMW CTSE has been running successfully for 12 years. Throughout this time, this program has traveled through 63 cities, bringing road safety education to more than 390,000 parents and children."

Mr. Li Wenshan, Deputy Head of Expressway Division of Traffic Police Corps, Public Security Department of Anhui Province, expressed his praise and appreciation: "As a successful premium automotive manufacturer, BMW has been dedicated to promoting children's traffic safety education as part of its CSR events. It is so impressive to commit to such a public welfare program for 12 years and make it effective and influential. It deserves the common efforts of the whole society to pay more attention to children's traffic safety education, just as the theme of today's event ‘Joining Hands Big and Small, Together We Care for Children's Traffic Safety’ preaches. This is such a warm commitment to create a safer, more harmonious traffic environment for children."

Besides the popular "AnAn Driving School," the 2016 BMW CTSE theme park has also initiated three brand new modules: "AnAn Train The Trainer Classroom," "AnAn Innovation Club" and "AnAn Dollschat Club," to systematically spread children's traffic safety knowledge in more interactive and innovative ways.

Firstly, professional trainers from the BMW China Training Academy and Love Ambassadors from BMW dealers systematically explain children's traffic safety knowledge to parents, and introduce the dos and don’ts when using a child safety seat. Parents and children can then apply what they have learned to a game called "AnAn Assembling Race." Secondly, the AnAn Innovation Club, a result of design thinking, inspires children's creativity and develops their capabilities. BMW's 12-Year- Old Flagship CSR Program Innovatively Upgraded

The First BMW CTSE Experience Center Officially Opens in Shenyang

(Shenyang) On August 25th, 2016, the first BMW CTSE Experience Center officially opened in the Shenyang Science Centrum. It is BMW's first public indoor fixed center and the first non-profit children's traffic safety experiential venue in northeast China. BMW Children's Traffic Safety Education (CTSE), a 12-year CSR program, has been fully upgraded in an innovative way to better contribute to Chinese society. Dr. Anton Heiss, President & CEO, BMW Brilliance Automotive Ltd., and Lian Maojun, Secretary-General, Shenyang Government, attended the opening ceremony.

The BMW CTSE Experience Center aims to provide a year-round platform of public welfare for parents and children to enjoy innovative programming and well-designed interactions on children's traffic safety education.

Dr. Anton Heiss stated at the opening: "At BMW, we firmly believe that an excellent corporate citizen should not only have prominent business strength, but also take account of stakeholders in order to drive the industry's development and boost society's unceasing progress. BMW CTSE is our longest CSR program in China and has been running successfully for 12 years so far. The BMW CTSE Experience Center is an innovative result based on the 12 years of experience and responding to growing public demand. As we are celebrating BMW's centenary anniversary this year, the BMW CTSE Experience Center is a special gift we present to parents and children in Shenyang – BMW's Second Hometown."

As BMW's longest-running CSR program in China, BMW CTSE has been brought to 63 cities, benefiting 390,000 people, since its introduction in 2005. The acceleration of urbanization has driven China's transition into a mobile society, which brings with it growing public demand for children's traffic safety education. In this social context, and based on its 12-year experience in children's traffic safety education, BMW CTSE introduces the fixed BMW CTSE Experience Center as an upgraded innovation to this program, while still retaining the traditional roadshow agenda.

Under the professional guidance from the Traffic Management Research Institute of Public Security Ministry, the first BMW CTSE Experience Center is designed to address different specific scenarios and is equipped with special training devices, which all take into account the psychological characteristics of children aged 4 to 9. The whole center is divided into nine functional areas: School Bus Safety Experience, Child Safety Seat Crash Simulator, Child Safety Seat Display Area, Traffic Sign Learning Area, AnAn Traffic School, AnAn Dollschat Club, AnAn Innovation Club, AnAn TTT Classroom, and AnAn Cinema.

The BMW CTSE Experience Center features the following 3 advantages:

? In terms of target audience, the Experience Center makes parents a priority. In response to the widespread problem of a lack of traffic safety awareness and knowledge among parents, it specially designs experience areas and related content for parents.

? In terms of content, the Experience Center addresses the key problems within children's traffic safety, including school bus safety, child safety seat, etc.

? In terms of program design, the Experience Center follows children's learning characteristics to integrate innovative technologies, parent-child interaction and immersive teaching methods, so as to motivate children and parents to learn useful traffic safety knowledge together, as well as to inspire the children's creativity and develop their individual study capabilities and innovative spirit.

BMW CTSE Experience Center will be open to the public year-round and free of charge. In addition to group appointments for parents and children to receive scientific and interactive experiential safety education, the center will regularly launch themed activities to spread children's traffic safety knowledge in a diversified manner.

As BMW's "Second Hometown," Shenyang is of great significance. Choosing Shenyang as the location for its first CTSE Experience Center illustrates both BMW's strong emotional link to - and value of - the city. Meanwhile, the center will be a new corporate social responsibility platform for BMW through which to mobilize stakeholders to make social contributions. In the future, specially-trained associate volunteers from BMW Brilliance Automotive (BBA) will serve as "BMW Children's Traffic Safety Ambassadors" in the center to provide regular volunteer services for daily operations. At the opening ceremony, Dr. Robert Engelhorn, Senior Vice President, Technology & Manufacturing, BMW Brilliance Automotive Ltd., awarded the BMW Children's Traffic Safety Ambassador Certificate to the associate volunteers from the BBA factory.

Since its official kickoff in Beijing at the end of May, 2016 BMW CTSE has traveled to Hefei and Shanghai, with more than 5,000 parents and children participating in the roadshow. The practical and effective interactive experiences with children's traffic safety, especially the "Child Safety Crash Simulator" for parents, have educated parents in the most effective way about the importance of the child safety seat, and were met with an enthusiastic response.

In 2016, the program, with the theme of "Joining Hands Big and Small, Together We Care for Children's Traffic Safety," features comprehensive innovations in programming, participants and content while entering its 12th consecutive year. Furthermore, besides road shows, BMW has opened the first fixed BMW Children's Traffic Safety Education Experience Center in Shenyang, which has been fully upgraded in an innovative way.

Mr. Liang Jian, Vice President of South Region, BMW Brilliance Automotive said: "As the world's top premium automaker, BMW has always contributed to promoting the sustainable development of the industry and our society. As early as 2005, we have introduced BMW CTSE to China. With the aim of delivering children's traffic safety knowledge, the program has been carried out in 64 cities and benefited 400,000 people to date."

Stick to innovation and contribute to solve children's traffic safety

According to relative statistics, automobile accidents are one of the primary causes of injury to children in China, with 11,500 children under the age of 12 having died or been injured due to traffic accidents. Parents are of great importance in ensuring the safety of children under 12, however, parents in China generally lack safety awareness or general safety knowledge, which is the major reason behind the high frequency of traffic accidents involving children.

Therefore, the 2016 BMW CTSE program takes parents’ education as a priority and teaches them practical safety knowledge, such as how to use a safety seat properly. Additionally, the program will teach parents in-car and out-of-car safety knowledge that is normally overlooked in order to further cultivate their driving habits and etiquettes, in turn creating a safer environment for children.

Besides the popular "AnAn Traffic School," 2016 BMW CTSE theme park has also initiated three brand new modules: "AnAn Train The Trainer Classroom," "AnAn Innovation Club" and "AnAn Dollschat Club".

Meanwhile, the Traffic Safety Education Book for Primary and Secondary School Students, jointly published by BMW Brilliance Automotive Ltd. and China Communications Press Co., Ltd., are distributed for free to primary and secondary students in several regions around China. The book, covering road etiquette and traffic safety knowledge, will be in an effort to spread children's traffic safety knowledge more widely and comprehensively. Following current public reading habits, AnAn's Story, the BMW CTSE series cartoon, will be upgraded to short animated videos, rich with knowledge and humor, which can be played via mobile platforms, to spread efficiently and effectively on children's traffic safety education to target audiences.

Safety for Joyful Childhood

2015 BMW Children's Traffic Safety Education (CTSE) Launched in Beijing with Joy

A simulated real road driving environment, engaging safety education, stimulating 4D junior seat experience, and all new Train The Trainer (TTT) program all came together at the 2015 BMW CTSE. With the theme of "Safety for Joyful Childhood", the 2015 BMW CTSE kicked off in Beijing on July 30th, starting its annual journey for the 11th year.

"We have consistently run children's traffic safety training for more than a decade. Over the past 10 years, the BMW CTSE has grown to be one of our largest CSR events and by last year up to 370,000 families had directly benefited from it," Mr. Olaf Kastner, President and CEO of BMW Brilliance Automotive Ltd., said at the 2015 CTSE opening ceremony. "BMW Brilliance is committed to Corporate Citizenship and it is against this background that we strive for sustainability in everything we do, including throughout our R&D, production and sales processes. Sustainability for us goes hand in hand with innovation. We are passionate about fulfilling our social responsibility role in various fields, such as Resources, Intercultural Innovation and Social Inclusion, and Education."

Building an Engaging and Innovative Campus for Safety Awareness

2015 BMW CTSE starts a new decade for the program, with it reaching more people via a more innovative education model and as a more diversified platform. 2015 BMW CTSE starts its 11th annual journey in Beijing before heading to Shanghai, Chengdu, Shenyang and Guangzhou. In each city, the program spent a week presenting the most up-to-date and practical safety information to local kids.

This year, the theme park again featured the five activities that have proved so popular: "AN’AN Joy Traffic School", "AN’AN Magic Cinema", "AN’AN Car Factory", "AN’AN Emergency Centre" and "Joy Junior Campus". A brand new TTT program was also introduced. It aims to train more professional volunteers and thereby provide traffic safety knowledge to more children and families.

Everyone is equal when it comes to knowledge. In order to give children in remote areas the same access to safety education and training, 2015 BMW CTSE brought a 3D safety-themed movie, "Adventure of AN’AN", to BMW JOY Homes in six cities – Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Shenyang, Hangzhou, and Guangzhou – offering the disadvantaged children at these JOY Homes comprehensive safety education in an enjoyable format.

Additionally, the upgraded version of BMW CTSE mobile app was officially released to the public. Incorporating more safety education content, the new app provided a broader and more diversified interactive educational platform for an enjoyable, captivating educational experience, while expanding coverage.

Remaining Faithful to the Promise over 11 Years

BMW CTSE was introduced in 2005, making it a pioneer of children's safety education in the auto industry. In the 11 years since, BMW has leveraged diversified approaches rather than boring textbooks or lectures to guide children in spontaneous exploration and happy learning and achieve practical "education through entertainment". So far, BMW CTSE has been organized in 63 cities and benefited over 390,000 Chinese children.

In promoting children's safety education, BMW has maintained an open mind, advancing with the times and continuously innovating. From safety theme park to TTT program, from AN’AN the Bear to CTSE app, BMW adheres to intensive cultivation in the field of children's safety education, using edutainment to spread knowledge and helping children and their families develop good traffic habits. With 11 years of persistence, BMW CTSE has become a wonderland for a vast number of children to explore every year. AN’AN the Bear has also become many kids’ best friend.

As a global leader in the premium auto market, BMW sticks to clear development goals, actively practicing corporate social responsibility and promoting social progress while achieving business success. BMW is not only implementing sustainable development throughout its entire value chain, but also dedicating itself to CSR in three core areas of Resources, Intercultural Innovation and Social Inclusion, and Education, aiming to achieve the common development of the corporation and society.

Sticking to Our Commitment on an 11-year Safety Education Journey

2015 BMW Children's Traffic Safety Education (CTSE) Launched in Shanghai with Joy

The 2015 BMW CTSE Shanghai Stop kicked off at Shanghai Science and Technology Museum on August 13th. After celebrating its 10th anniversary last year, the program starts its journey into a new stage this year with innovative educational initiatives. It goes beyond the popular theme park programs of previous years, providing a diversified platform for more children across the nation. Following Beijing and Shanghai, BMW CTSE will head to Chengdu, Shenyang and Guangzhou where the program spends a week presenting the most up-to-date and practical safety information to local kids.

The most popular program in each year's BMW CTSE events is the "BMW Traffic Safety Theme Park", where a real road environment is simulated, including traffic lights, zebra crossings etc. The kids can enjoy safe driving in their mini BMW electric cars while learning how to stay safe in traffic. The other four venues in the CTSE program provide children with a range of other experiences: the thrilling adventure on the 4D chairs in "AN’AN Magic Cinema" helps children have a better understanding about the importance of junior seats; in the Joy Junior Campus, they learned about clean energy, green mobility, waste sorting and other environmental protection information; AN’AN Emergency Centre offers kids an opportunity to learn how to protect themselves in the event of an earthquake, fire or kidnapping; and, in the AN’AN Car Factory, they enjoy the pleasure of assembling a model car with their own hands.

However, the "BMW Traffic Safety Theme Park" remains the most popular CTSE program every year. This year, besides the classic programs, a brand new Train the Trainer (TTT) program was introduced, aiming to train more professional volunteers in children's traffic safety and thereby expand the dissemination of safety knowledge to more children and their families. The other four venues in the CTSE program provided children with a range of other experiences: the thrilling adventure on 4D chairs in "AN’AN Magic Cinema" helped children better understand the importance of safe seats; in the Joy Junior Campus, they learned about clean energy, green mobility, waste sorting and other environmental protection information; AN’AN Emergency Centre offered kids an opportunity to learn how to protect themselves in the event of earthquakes and fire and against kidnapping; and in AN’AN Car Factory, they could enjoy the pleasure of assembling a model car with their own hands.

Besides the classic popular thematic learning programs, 2015 BMW CTSE also presented a brand new Train the Trainer (TTT) program, aimed at training more professionals in traffic safety, so every parent has the opportunity to become qualified facilitators in spreading safety knowledge and benefiting more children and families. In order to give children in remote areas the same access to safety education, 2015 BMW CTSE screened a 3D safety-themed movie, "Adventure of AN’AN", to BMW Joy Homes in six cities – Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Shenyang, Hangzhou, and Guangzhou – offering the children comprehensive safety education in an entertaining way. What's more, the BMW CTSE app has also been upgraded to incorporate more safety education content and provide a broader and more diversified interactive educational platform for an enjoyable educational experience to a wider audience.

BMW CTSE has been committed to developing children's awareness of traffic safety and strengthening their capacity to protect themselves from the day it was introduced in 2005. In the past 11 years, BMW has consistently maintained an open mind and listened to what children are saying in their hearts. This has provided a constant source of inspiration to develop new ideas and methods for safety education in China. So far, CTSE has been organized in 63 cities, with over 40 BMW dealers and 6,000 BMW customers involved and more than 370,000 Chinese children benefiting. BMW's goal is to take root in China and contribute to Chinese society. BMW has continued its cooperation with the Ministry of Education since 2010, promoting the BMW traffic safety textbook tailored to primary school students all over China. So far, a total of 260,000 textbooks have been distributed. As a responsible corporate citizen, BMW is dedicated to creating a safe and orderly environment, practicing its long-term commitment to China.

Safety for Joyful Childhood

2015 BMW Children's Traffic Safety Education (CTSE) Successfully Concluded in Guangzhou

The 2015 BMW CTSE was successfully concluded at Guangdong Science Center on October 23th. In the first year of a new decade of CTSE and with the theme of "Safety for Joyful Childhood", CTSE is benefiting more people through a more innovative education model and a diversified platform. The closing ceremony for this year's event was attended by a host of BMW executives and local officials, including Mr. Liang Jian, Vice President of South Region, BMW Brilliance Automotive Ltd.; Mr. Wang Yuxue, Deputy Director of Guangdong Education Department; Mr. Zeng Jiangbei, Commissioner for Education Bureau of Panyu District of Guangzhou; Ms. Cai Cuilian, Sergeant of the 1st Traffic Police Squadron; Mr. Yang Xinbin, Senior Manager of Public Relations & Corporate Social Responsibility, BMW Brilliance Automotive Ltd.; Ms. Bi Suwen, Manager of South Region Communication, BMW China Automotive; and representatives from BMW Joy Homes in Guangzhou.

"Immediate attention needs to be given to educating children in road safety. Our aim is to teach children the skills to protect them from traffic accidents," Mr. Liang Jian said. "Moreover, we call on parents to participate in road traffic safety education because their skills and knowledge on this subject will have a great influence on children, and that is the reason why we have expanded the program to parents this year."

Since it was launched in 2005, BMW CTSE has been dedicated to spreading safety awareness to more people in a systematic, timely and efficient way. Besides the classic popular thematic learning programs, 2015 BMW CTSE has introduced a brand new Train the Trainer (TTT) program, aimed at training more professionals in traffic safety, so every parent has the opportunity to facilitate the spread of safety knowledge and thereby benefit more children and families. In order to give children in remote areas the same access to safety education, 2015 BMW CTSE brought a 3D safety-themed movie, "Adventure of AN’AN", to BMW Joy Homes in six cities – Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Shenyang, Hangzhou, and Guangzhou – offering the children there comprehensive safety education in an entertaining way. What's more, the BMW CTSE app was also upgraded to incorporate more safety education content and provide a broader and more diversified interactive educational platform for an enjoyable educational experience to an even wider audience.

Its dedication to social welfare relies on long-term persistence. Since entering China, BMW has not only firmly demonstrated its corporate social responsibility but also provided a role model for the whole auto industry. In 2007, BMW launched a series of corporate social responsibility activities, making it one of the first auto manufacturers to carry out these activities. In 2013, a new Corporate Citizenship strategy was launched with BMW promoting industry-leading CSR programs in three core areas: Resources, Intercultural Innovation and Social Inclusion, and Education.
