(Shenyang) Tonight, the world-famous Liaoning Ballet Troupe put on a wonderful display of ballet at the Liaoning Grand Theatre for the “BMW Culture Night 2009”. The show was highlighted by a romantic Chinese aria with masterful ballet technique.
As part of the “Germany and China - Moving Ahead Together” in Liaoning / Shenyang series of events, 2009 “BMW Culture Night” will hold three days performances during the inauguration of the “Germany and China Road ”event to celebrate 35 years anniversary of diplomatic relation between China and Germany by promoting culture exchange between two countries and local cultural development. 2009 is the third consecutive year for BMW Brilliance to host “BMW Culture Night”. Manufacture Sr. Vice President of BMW Brilliance Mr. Hans Kroeppelt, H.R. Sr. Vice President of BMW Brilliance Ms.Grace Li, provincial and municipal leaders and high ranking representatives from the German Embassy and the “Germany and China - Moving Ahead Together” organization team were present to enjoy the elegant performance.
A bridge between Germany and China
Different from past performances that featured a medley of various classical ballet pieces, this year’s performance is comprised of a single Chinese ballet routine revolved around the Er-Hu masterpiece, ----“the Moon Reflected in Er-quan Spring”. Combining western classical ballet with traditional Chinese love story, this cross-culture performance tells a pure love tragedy. “The Moon Reflected in Er-quan Spring” ballet, consisting of 5 acts, is an original piece which has been prepared by Liaoning Ballet for nearly 10 years. This grand work of art is honored as the milestone in Chinese ballet history demonstrating the soul of Western classical ballet while lighting up essence of Chinese culture. It has been granted several awards such as “Top Ten Plays” of 2005—2006 Annual Selection of Best National Stage Art Project. At the stage of 2009 “BMW Culture Night”, it embraced its 100th fantastic performance!

2009 “BMW Culture Night”, together with other events under the “Germany and China - Moving Ahead Together” program bridges the communication between Germany and China. This program is a 3-year plan composed of a series of events in 3 cities in China from 2007 - 2010. It was held in memory of the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between two countries aiming at strengthening trust and understanding, and to lay a solid foundation for future cooperation. As an integral part of this 3-year plan, 2009 “BMW Culture Night” has contributed to creative communications and exchanges between different cultures through the innovative Chinese ballet “the Moon Reflected in Er-quan Spring”. From June 12 to 19, during the program in Shenyang stop, local citizens and high ranking representatives from the German Embassy and the “Germany and China - Moving Ahead Together” organization team also visited BMW Brilliance Plant for a look at the advanced facility and global quality standard of the BMW vehicles produced in China.

Ranked as one of the “Top five” ballet troupes in China, Liaoning Ballet Troupe aims to produce a ballet brand with Chinese character. On their journey to establish the art of Chinese style ballet, they have accomplished great achievements. Moreover, famous actors are also the highlight. “Chinese No. 1 ballet boy” Lv Meng who surprised the whole world with his performance in “Ever-ending Steps” at the 2008 Paralympic Games once again electrified the audience. He said: “It is my pleasure to have performed on the stage of “BMW Culture Night” for the third time. Thank BMW for its great efforts and encouragements to support us. It is believed that Western classical arts would come into fusion with Chinese culture in the near future.”
