Improving Service Quality and Promoting Vocational Education - BMW Shenyang Training Base is Officially Launched

(Shenyang, Beijing) Today, BMW China held the opening ceremony for the Shenyang Training Base in Shenyang. Shenyang Training Base is part of the BMW China Training Academy, which cooperates with the Liaoning Provincial College of Communications (LNCC), and provides training for BMW dealerships in the North region and BMW Brilliance employees of the close by production plant, comprehensively improving their service techniques, after-sales service level and production quality. It will also be a high standard base for vocational education, further enhancing the development of vocational education in Liaoning.

Ms. Grace Li, Senior Vice President, Human Resources of BMW Brilliance Automotive Ltd., Mr. Hans Kroeppelt, Senior Vice President, Manufacturing of BMW Brilliance, Mr. Liu Zhengkui, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPPCC and vice chairman of the CPPCC Liaoning Provincial Committee, Mr. Zhang Yajun of Liaoning Provincial College of Communications (LNCC), the cooperation partner of Shenyang Training Base, Mr. Thomas Walter, secondary secretary of the Trade Promotion Section of the German Embassy Beijing, and other guests were present at the opening ceremony of the BMW Shenyang Training Base.

Rooted locally, promoting the cultivation of a highly qualified automotive workforce through corporate-institute cooperation

Shenyang Training Base is located on the campus of LNCC, and currently has two training units providing timely and comprehensive training for BMW dealerships in the North region and BMW Brilliance employees. To ensure the training to be fitting with BMW high standards, BMW not only provides a series of top-class hardware including whole cars, engines, special training tools, computers, and other equipment on par with the hardware standard in Germany, but also supports the Base with teacher development, advanced textbooks and philosophy, in hope that this systematic, professional training will be able to further enhance dealership service consciousness and after-sales service quality. It is currently planned that the Base will be able to provide about 300 training days per year.

In addition, Shenyang Training Base services for vocational education projects, such as the BMW Apprenticeship Program. This takes reference of the Germany Dual System bringing vocational education together with advanced international educational models, not only providing students with theoretical and systematic training, but also supplying them with opportunities to obtain practical experience at the BBA Shenyang Plant or in dealerships. BMW is committed to providing the local auto industry with a highly qualified technical workforce whom could be able to integrate theory with application. Currently, 32 excellent students from the LNCC and Shenyang Vocational Technical College are enrolled in the BMW Apprentice Program with practice modules in Shenyang Plant.

At the same time, as a responsible corporate citizen rooted firmly in China, BMW also works to fuse with local vocational education, introduces advanced international technical experience, and contributes to the development of the Chinese auto industry."

Mr. Zhang Yajun, Principal of LNCC said at the ceremony, "We are honored to become one of the institutions cooperating with BMW Brilliance. BMW Shenyang Training Base will surely become an important link in connecting practical experience in corporations with vocational education. We hope that BMW's advanced technology and corporate concepts will have a positive influence on our school, promoting our development together with BMW Brilliance, and achieve our development goals of advantage complementation, sharing of resources, mutual benefit, and win-win cooperation.

Perfecting the BMW national training network and local vocational education program

BMW has provided market-oriented training in sales and after-sales service for dealerships in mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan since 1995. The BMW China Training Academy was officially established in 2006, providing more systematic technical and non-technical training for dealerships, and supervising the results through certification programs. Currently, the BMW China Training Academy has 1 training center in Beijing, and 4 training bases in Nanjing, Chengdu, Guangzhou, and Shenyang. The second training center will start operation in Shanghai in spring of 2009, with which BMW will be able to achieve a nationwide, highly effective training network in China.

While continuing to perfect its service and product quality, as a responsible corporate citizen, BMW has a long-term commitment to the Chinese market and the Chinese customers. BMW is committed not only to introducing the advanced technologies and products to China, but also transferring the experiences and know-how to the Chinese auto industry through various ways, such as the support to the vocational education in China. BMW developed a series of vocational education program and projects, such as PPP project, "Cars Mechatronic" textbook introduction, and BMW apprenticeship Programs. Those programs not only greatly improve the level of local vocational education, but also provide a feasible and innovative model for the optimization of the development of Chinese vocational education.
