(Beijing/Shenyang) On Saturday night, BMW joined hands with the world-famous Liaoning Ballet to amaze Shen Yang audiences at Liaoning Grand Theater with a graceful display of top modern and classic ballet performances. BMW Brilliance Automotive sponsored "BMW Culture Night" for the 2nd year in a row for culture promotion in the cities of Dalian, Changchun, Harbin and Shenyang. Tonight is the final performance for the two-year program.
This year's "BMW Culture Night" performance not only presented two different styles of ballet performances in classic and modern ballet, it also surprised audiences with traditional Chinese elements. Ballet Performance Tai Chi was specially choreographed for BMW and the Beijing Olympics by Liaoning Ballet, in which the typical Chinese dance style and the elegance of Tai Chi is perfectly synchronized, resulting in a smashing success of its debut at "BMW Culture Night". Jasmine Flowers was also warmly received by the audience for its debut. The Chinese Ballet Er'quan Moon Reflection: Chasing the Moon In My Dreams, listed as the Top 10 National Classic Art Performances, pushed the atmosphere of the performance to a climax.
Ms. Grace Li, Senior Vice President of BMW Brilliance Automotive said, "'BMW Culture Night' is another solid project in BMW Cultural Promotion. The art of ballet and the art of driving share many similarities. BMW is not only the epitome of sheer driving pleasure and handling perfection, but also the symbol of elegance and the flow of an art piece. It is the real 'dancer on wheels'. By sponsoring 'BMW Culture Night' two years in a row, we have sensed great emotional satisfaction and resonance from the bottom of our hearts, aroused by the excellent performances of Liaoning Ballet artists. We are also touched by the perfect interpretation of BMW's free driving philosophy through this 'art of the toes'."
As one of China's top 5 ballet groups, Liaoning Ballet boasts exquisite skills and a large cast of ballet stars. One of the highlights in today's performance was the energetic and elegant entrechats of young ballet artist Lv Meng, known as the "No.1 Ballet Boy in China". "This is the second consecutive year that I have participated in the Ballet Performance sponsored by BMW. I am deeply impressed by BMW's determination to support and promote China's culture development. Meanwhile, at each of this year's four stops, I can feel the increasing enthusiasm towards the art of Ballet from local audiences. Through my dance, I hope I can convey to the audience my understanding of Ballet and my passion for the art deep in my soul." Said Lv Meng.
BMW has a deep origin in promoting the arts and culture. Cultural promotion programs supported by BMW cover a wide range such as protection of cultural heritage, music, painting, carving and film etc. For years, BMW has been devoting itself to cultural exchanges and projects to promote the essence of national and regional culture. In 2007, BMW sponsored the Ballet Performance Fate in memory of world-renowned ballet choreographer Leonide Massine. In China, apart from "BMW Culture Night", BMW has also sponsored "BMW Night-Lv Siqing Violin Concerto" and "Perpetual Motion: Dialogues on Contemporary Arts-our Exhibition of BMW Art Cars" held at Long Journey Space, Beijing Factory 798. Popularizing elegant arts and improving cultural level is a concrete expression of BMW's long commitment to the Chinese market.
