(Beijing,) "Sharing One Dream," a cultural promotion event jointly held by BMW and the Capital Museum, was officially launched this morning while 100 teachers and students from Beijing's rural area arrived at the Capital Museum in BMW cars driven by respective owners and BMW associates.
Mr. Han Yong, Deputy Director of the Capital Museum, Dr. Shi Gen Dong, Executive Director of Working Committee for UNESCO EPD Project, and media were present to welcome the invited teachers and students. Mr. Alfred Rupp, President and CEO of BMW Brilliance Automotive Ltd, attended the welcome ceremony and gave a speech on behalf of BMW China and BMW Brilliance.
"'Sharing One Dream' is an important component of BMW China Corporate Social Contribution Activities. It's collaborated with the Capital Museum, aiming to provide visiting opportunities to teachers and students who live in the rural areas of Beijing. As one of the modern, comprehensive museums in China, the Capital Museum possesses the most advanced facilities and exhibits, with valuable collections about history and culture from China and abroad. Especially it provides all visitors a deep overview and understanding on China's 5,000-year history development and glorious culture.
According to the statistics, the average visiting frequency to museum in China is only about half or less than that in the developed countries. It is even rare for teenagers in countryside to find chances to come to city museum. The "Sharing One Dream" cultural promotion activity offers an opportunity of expanding the vision and improving the knowledge of students, so as to help them study history and culture at the Capital Museum, as well as enhance their responsibilities towards contribution to the society .
Mr. Alfred Rupp, President and CEO of BMW Brilliance Automotive Ltd, said at the welcome ceremony, "BMW China and BMW Brilliance have been sincerely devoting to effectively implement the social responsibilities as a responsible corporate citizen. The BMW China Corporate Social Contribution Activities mainly cover five aspects, including Educational Support, Environmental Protection, Cultural Promotion, Customer Integration and Corporate Governance. In the meantime, we are hoping to influence more people to join in the social contribution activities. "Sharing One Dream" endeavor is a joint action supported by many voluntary BMW employees and BMW owners. We truly appreciate and feel proud of you, and confident for the future."
Mr. Han Yong, Deputy Director of Capital Museum mentioned, ""Sharing One Dream' is a significant action. It not only offers a tangible support for the students from rural areas, but also creates a new cooperation between culture institution and corporations. In addition, it provides meaningful guidance for a cultural entity to better serve the community."
After a brief welcome ceremony, the students embarked on a day's excitement with teachers and museum guides. The museum's classical collections on history and culture from China and abroad, various kinds of art masterpieces, and lively do-it-yourself games were more than an eye-opener for all students.
BMW China Corporate Social Contribution Activities focus on five areas: Cultural Promotion, Educational Support, Environmental Protection, Customer Integration and Corporate Governance, which is a long-term commitment of BMW to Chinese society.
