BMW Shanghai Training Center Plans to Start Up in 2009

Beijing. Today, an umbrella agreement about BMW Shanghai Training Center was signed between BMW Brilliance Automotive Ltd. and Shanghai Jiading Industrial Zone Economic Development Co., Ltd. Mr. Alfred Rupp, President and CEO of BMW Brilliance, Dr. Daniel Kirchert, Senior Vice-president of BMW Brilliance, Mr. Yu Jianhua, chairman of the board of Shanghai Jiading Industrial Zone Economic Development Co., Ltd and Mr. Tan Bing, General Manager of Shanghai Jiading Industrial Zone Economic Development Co., Ltd attended the signing ceremony.

BMW Shanghai Training Center is located at the 12th area of the industrial creative zone in Shanghai Jiading industrial north zone, which takes up about 10,000 square meters. The construction project will be started in January 2008, and the training center will be opened in 2009. BMW Shanghai Training Center will provide training programs for sales and marketing as well as technical, non-technical and IT-training for BMW employees. The center will be able to provide 24,000 man days training every year. In other words, the training center will provide 10 days training program for 2,400 employees each year. BMW China is now able to offer targeted education to achieve the highest level of qualification and after-sales service for all BMW dealership employees and BMW associates in the entire China area.

Mr. Alfred Rupp, President and CEO of BMW Brilliance said at the ceremony, "As a premium automotive manufacturer with long term commitment to the Chinese market and its consumers, BMW has continued to see our employees as the deciding factor in our success of the company. Only through strict and rich training programs can they fit the international BMW employee qualifications. Establishing the BMW Shanghai Training Center will further enhance our training system in China, and with the BMW China Training Center in Beijing, we will provide our employees with professional training. This will be another milestone in our development in China."

BMW Group already began providing market-oriented after-sales training for Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan in 1995. With a history of ten years in technical and non-technical training, BMW dealership staff have shown their ability with top-results at international BMW internal competitions. For example, the team won the 3rd place in the BMW International Service Technician Competition 2004 from a total of 37 participating countries and best in Asia.

These excellent results are a demonstration of the strong competence some BMW after sales teams in China have already acquired. With the increase of capacity and the new facility, BMW Group and BMW Brilliance Automotive continue to improve its performance in the long-term.
