(October 10, 2007, Beijing) The 14th World Congress on Intelligent Transport Systems (WCITS) is held from October 9th to 13th in Beijing. It is the first time that the WCITS is held in a developing country. BMW becomes the sponsor in auto industry to the congress. In total, 10 of the BMW 7 Series and 20 of the BMW 5 Series Li are served as the VIP cars.

Beijing became to the host city of the 14th WCITS in Madrid, Spain 2003, where the 10th WCITS was held. It is the first time that WCITS is held in China. It is hosted by the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Communication, the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Construction and the Beijing Municipal Government. The congress will last for four days in Beijing and the theme of the which is "ITS for a Better Life". Governments, organizations, enterprises and experts from all over the world will meet to exchange and exhibit the latest policies, management concepts, equipments, technique achievements and the successful cases. Apart from that, the future and the developing trend of ITS will be discussed.

The WCITS was initiated by the International Intelligent Transportation Organization in 1994. It is held annually in cities chosen from, in rotation, Europe, Asia Pacific, and North America. As the importance of ITS becomes more profound internationally, the WCITS has become the largest comprehensive international conference with the widest scope in the ITS field. This year's Congress will be held for the first time in a developing country. During the event, Beijing will present its ITS constructions for the 2008 Olympic Games, as well as the modernization of this ancient city, by which the world will learn more about the achievements of transport technology in China, and promote international communication and cooperation on ITS. In addition, it will promote advanced research and application of ITS technology.
