Environmental protection is a crucial aspect in maintaining human survival and sustainable development; it is also an important part of BMW’s sustainable development strategy, having been carried out with strenuous efforts in all processes of products optimization and production. Spearheading sustainable development strategy, BMW has long been engaged in the mutual development of both the automobile industry and environmental protection.
In the evaluation for our products' influence on environment, BMW gives priority to the technical innovation on how to decrease the oil consumption, makes a special emphasis on developing sustainable products and takes environmental protection and recycling into appropriate consideration at the very initial phase of development. In addition, with production, every BMW plant has achieved ISO 14001 certification, set by the International Environment Management System and been approved by Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS). BMW hereby is the first and only auto manufacturer around the world applying the internationally standardized and locally required environment management system to all plants.
BMW Efficient Dynamics is the cornerstone of all BMW automobile innovative practices. Its core philosophy is committing to "less emission and more driving pleasure" through the use of high-end technology. At present, the BMW Group is the only automobile manufacturer globally that successfully implements this principle in its full range of models rather than a specific model. BMW and MINI vehicles are far ahead of all competitors in the luxury automobile market segment in the aspect of fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emission reduction.
